Projects - ALTAVA Collective: Research Initiatives and Heritage Valorization

The ALTAVA Collective develops a series of innovative projects combining research, technology, and citizen participation. Each initiative aims to better understand, document, and transmit the richness of Algerian heritage.

Photogrammetry and 3D modeling: virtual reconstruction of archaeological sites and endangered architectural elements.
Archive digitization: collection and processing of historical documents (maps, manuscripts, photographs) in collaboration with local institutions.
Participatory mapping: engaging local communities to identify, document, and promote tangible and intangible heritage.
Interdisciplinary research: combining history, anthropology, geomatics, and digital sciences to generate new knowledge.
Creation of educational resources: developing content accessible to teachers, students, and the general public.

Each project is carried out with scientific rigor and a commitment to society, aiming to ensure the sustainable transmission and promotion of heritage.

The ALTAVA Collective carries out concrete field actions to inventory, document, and enhance Algeria’s tangible and intangible heritage,
in close collaboration with local communities and researchers.

Inventory of the Ksour of Gourara

A fieldwork project combining mapping and photogrammetry to document the traditional ksour of Gourara (Timimoun), in collaboration with local stakeholders. This initiative aims to preserve the architectural and social memory of these oasis villages threatened by oblivion.

Inventory of Archaeological Sites in Western Algeria

In partnership with researchers, photographers, and institutions, we are conducting a geolocated inventory of ancient and medieval remains in Western Algeria. This work lays the foundation for a future open and scientific database.

Creation of a Tourist Map of the Medina of Tlemcen

A project currently being developed in collaboration with architects and historians to design a cultural and tourist map of the medina of Tlemcen, highlighting its alleys, monuments, artisans, and popular stories.
